I have been a practising counsellor and psychotherapist for more than thirty years, both in private practice and working extensively in the NHS.
Alongside my private practice and other work in NHS primary care, I led a counselling team in an NHS GP surgery in Southampton for over twenty years. In 2010 I founded the Southampton-based “Time to Talk”, a counselling service for asylum seekers and refugees. My training, following a degree in psychology, was initially in Psychodynamic counselling through a Westminster Pastoral Foundation course in Southampton, followed by an MA in Counselling and Psychotherapy at Regent's College in London and a two-year UKCP Integrative clinical training as a registered psychotherapist. Additionally, I have completed courses at The Tavistock Clinic and specialist trainings in trauma and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) and a one-year Counselling Supervision Certificate (CPAB). I studied Mindfulness with Jon Kabat-Zinn and Mark Williams (among others). Over many years I have also taught yoga and relaxation both in England and in Australia for organisations including the Adult Education Service and Hampshire County Council. In addition, I have run Mindfulness courses for both for patients and staff in the NHS. |
